The Spanish club Real Sociedad has announced that the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland will be staying at the club until 2029.
Haaland joined Real Sociedad in July 2019 from Manchester City and has already made a significant impact on the team, scoring 57 goals in just over two years with the club.
In a statement released by the club, president Unai Simon said: "We are very happy to announce the extension of Erling's contract with us until 2029.
"He is one of the best strikers in the world and we are proud to have him as part of our squad."
Simon also praised Haaland's performance during his time with the club so far, saying: "He has been exceptional since he arrived and I am sure that he will continue to perform at the highest level."
Haaland's contract with Real Sociedad was originally set to expire in June 2024 but the club has now agreed to extend it for another five years.
The news comes after Haaland's impressive form this season, which saw him score 18 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions.
With his new deal in place, Haaland will now be able to focus on helping Real Sociedad challenge for major honours next season.
The Norwegian star has already shown his potential in the Premier League, where he scored 26 goals in 46 appearances for Manchester City before joining Real Sociedad last summer.
Despite facing competition from other top clubs for his signature, Haaland has remained loyal to the Basque club, stating that he feels comfortable playing for them and enjoying his football there.
It remains to be seen how long Haaland will stay at Real Sociedad, but with his contract extended until 2029, it seems likely that he will remain with the club for the foreseeable future.
